The maximum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana today settled below normal levels at many places following light rains in some parts of the two states.
The Union Territory of Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius, MeT department report said here.
Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar, which received light showers, recorded a high of 37 degrees Celsius.
Following rains, maximum temperatures in Ludhiana and Patiala to settled at below normal level at 34.7 and 33.6 degrees respectively.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 34.2 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, after light rains lashed the town. Karnal, which was lashed by heavy showers, recorded a high of 33.6 degrees. However, hot weather conditions prevailed in Hisar, which registered a maximum temperature of 39.3 degrees Celsius.
The MeT office has forecast light to moderate rains or thundershowers at a few places in Punjab and Haryana until tomorrow.
