Tendulkar, Laxman take up "Green Challenge" to plant saplings

Veteran cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman have taken up "Green Challenge" of planting saplings following an invite from Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao.

"Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's brainchild, Haritha Haram, is being noticed at a national level. The latest prominent personalities to participate in Haritha Haram are former Indian cricket players Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman," a state government release said here today.

The minister has recently invited Tendulkar and Laxman, among others, to the "Green Challenge."

Under the "Haritha Haram" (green necklace) campaign which began three years ago, the Telangana government has taken up a massive plantation drive across the state.
