Press Trust of India Udhagamandalam
: With reported sighting of a tiger and its cub in Kodanadu area, some 40 km from here, the forest department has placed two cages to trap them.

Forest department sources said some workers in Kodanadu estate, where former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa used to stay, had seen movement of the tiger in the area some days ago.

Moreover, villagers had also complained that a cow, a goat and buffalo were also killed by the tiger, resulting in panic in the area, they said.

To trap the animals, the department today placed two cages, made of fibre at Kodanadu View Point, a tourist spot and also in the estate, they said.

Though not not strong as iron cages, these lightweight fibre cages would not injure the trapped animals and were also durable, the sources said.
