Tamil Nadu government has provided Rs 228 crore as capital subsidy and 2.25 lakh people have set up new businesses during the last two and half years, state's Rural Industries Minister P Mohan said today.
"Soon after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa assumed office, 2.25 lakh persons have set up new offices and the Government has given capital subsidy of Rs 228 crore during the last two and half years," he said at a seminar on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) organised by CII.
"The government has allocated Rs 100 crore in skill development centres," he said.
Giving some statistics, he said as of January 31, 2013, there were 8.43 lakh micro, small and medium registered enterprises and companies had invested Rs 30,438 crore, creating 53 lakh jobs in the state.
