The ruling Trinamool Congress today registered a resounding victory in civic polls by winning eight of the 12 municipal bodies across the state where elections were held.
The Congress stood a distant second by winning two municipalities and the Left Front came third by winning only one.
"The Trinamool Congress has won in municipalities of Balurghat, Bardhaman, Gushkhara, Dugrajpur, Panihati, Habra, Diamond Harbour and Chakdah," said Tapas Roy, secretary of the State Election Commission.
Congress won in Haldibari and Dalkhola municipal bodies with Left winning in Mekhiliganj.
The result were hung in Alipurduar municipal body as no party was able to reach the majority mark.
