Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today pitched his state as the most ideal place with abundant potential for establishment of the National Film and Television Institute in the line of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata.
"The picturesque hills and valleys, simple, hospitable and peace loving people, the serene beauty of lakes, scenic beauty of the snow-clad silver mountain peaks and lush green meadows where thousands of species of flora and fauna prosper will perfectly fit the lens of the film and television makers," Tuki justified during a meeting with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju.
Rijiju, accompanied by Additional Secretary (Films) from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Raghvendra made an aerial survey of the proposed site for establishment of National Film and Television Institute at Jote, near here.
"National institute of film and television in such a location will provide ample scope to the students to learn and research for new means of film making," Tuki emphatically said, an official communique informed.
"This initiative will not only nurture creative talent but will also promote growth of film industry in Arunachal Pradesh as well as the North East," he further added while informing that Arunachal State Film Festival has been conducted as an annual event from last two years.
He, however, pointed out that few immediate concerns like the problems of connectivity by air, road and rail are being addressed on right earnest as there are number of projects underway. He requested the visiting union minister and the additional secretary to consider in gifting the state with the proposed institute for which the State Government is ready to provide land.
Earlier, secretary IPR of Arunachal Pradesh Dani Sallu gave a power point presentation informing the visiting guests about the potentials of Arunachal film makers who have won national awards in film making.
Among others, Speaker Nabam Rebia, State Home Minister Tanga Byaling, Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi, Secretary Planning Sonam Chombay and Director IPR C M Longphong were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister later took the union minister and the additional secretary for an aerial survey of the proposed site of the film and television institute at around Jote area, the communique added.
