Tusshar hopes 'Shootout at Wadala' register box office success

Press Trust of India Mumbai

'Shootout at Wadala', a crime thriller written and directed by Sanjay Gupta, is a prequel to 2007 film 'Shootout at Lokhandwala'.

The 35-year-old actor said promotions play a vital role in ensuring the success of a film.

"Any amount of promotion is not enough. One has to leave no stone unturned for promotions today...One has to break all boundaries as far as box office goes. In case of 'Dirty Picture', no one thought this film would create history in terms of women-oriented films, but it went on to do very good business," he told reporters here today.

"Now in case of gangster films, I wish 'Shootout at Wadala' creates history in terms of business. For that, one has to do right kind of promotions...Everything has to be perfect. It is good to start promotions early."

'Shootout at Wadala' recreates the first-ever registered encounter by Mumbai Police, which shot dead notorious gangster Manya Surve in Wadala area of the metropolis in 1982.

The movie, also featuring Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Kangna Ranaut and Sonu Sood, releases in January next year.

Talking about his role, Tusshar said, "My character (Sheikh Munir) is funny and light-hearted yet he is an aggressive person. I am playing a Muslim character for the first time...So it's a different role for me. (More) PTI KKP RSY
