A journalist of a local television channel was arrested by the police from Kokrajhar town in Assam for his alleged involvement in promoting and facilitating the violent acts of the banned NDFB(anti-talk) faction, the police said today.
Police arrested Jaikhnong Brahma, the Kokrajhar correspondent of the local news channel, last night for allegedly compromising national security and integrity by voluntarily promoting the activities of the banned organisation, a police spokesman said here.
The police allegedly found evidence of Brahma providing information to the militant outfit about movement of security forces in advance.
He was also accused of instigating the cadres of the outfit to indulge in violent activities like killing of innocent persons and sources or informers of the security forces, burning vehicles on National Highways to create fear psychosis among people and to glorify the violent activities of the banned organisation, the spokesman added.
