Two accused in 1.5-yr-old murder case held in Jaipur

In a major breakthrough, two persons accused in a high-profile murder case, that took place last year in Vidhyadhar Nagar area here, have been arrested, police said today.

Anurag Choudhary (41) and Anand Shandilya (45) have been arrested for allegedly shooting dead Himmat Singh in May 2015, police said, adding earlier they have arrested Lakshman Singh and Udaiveer Singh, the two prime accused in the case.

The murder was executed on directions of notorious criminal Anandpal Singh owing to a land dispute in Machda falling under Harmada police station, they said.

When the accused could not get possession of the land, they indulged into a scuffle with Singh and later hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him, Inspector General of Police (Special Operations Group) Dinesh MN said.
 

Choudhary is a listed criminal in several city police stations and owing to his closeness to Anandpal, he took the contract to eliminate Singh., the IG said.

On May 12, 2015, the accused shot Singh from point blank leading to his death, he added.
