City police today claimed to have rearrested an accused within a day of his escape from police custody here.
Accused identified as Jeewan Singh, resident of sector- 40, escaped from the custody of police yesterday from sector 34 police station here.
Singh was arrested from sector 45 for possessing seven gram of heroin, a spokesman of Chandigarh police said here.

The accused was rearrested by the teams of Crime Branch within few hours after his escape, he said.
The accused was allegedly involved in supplying drugs to the youths in tri-city. The accused is a graduate and unemployed, police said.
In a separate case, police also claimed to have arrested an undertrial identified as Abrar Khan who managed to escape from the judicial lock-up, district court, here along with four other accused on September 23.
Accused was nabbed from airport light point, police said adding that he was riding a bike which was stolen from the area of Panchkula.
Abrar Khan, who was allegedly involved in snatching incidents, was produced in a local court here October 31 which sent him to two-day police remand.
