Two alleged wildlife smugglers held

Two alleged wildlife smugglers were arrested the from the Tehri district today after ivory worth nearly Rs ten lakh was recovered from them, the police claimed today.

Bundu and Shahid, who hail from Bijnore, were held in the course of a routine checking near Oni bend in Narendranagar, said R K Saklani, incharge of the Special Operations Group team that arrested the duo.

"Ivory weighing five kgs which should be worth nearly Rs 10 lakh in the market was recovered from a sack which they were carrying," he claimed.

They were planning to sell it to someone in Chorpani, Saklani said.
