Two killed in clashes in Jalgaon

The procession was on its way to cremate Mathurabai (75), on Monday evening, when it warned by a 16-year-old boy identified as Mustafa Sheikh Hussain, to stop playing music near the mosque, they said.

However, when they did not relent, the boy threatened the gathering. On their return from the crematorium, Hussain and 17 other people attacked the procession party with sharp weapons, rods and stones, resulting in clashes.

As the mob turned unruly and violence spread in the tehsil, leading to death of two persons, police imposed prohibitory orders.

The deceased have been identified as Rehman Jamsher Tadvi and Sanjay Hari Dhangar, police said.

 

Also 33 people, including six minors have been arrested so far in this connection and remanded in police custody till January 2.
