Two convicts serving a life term have not returned back to the jail days after the expiry of their two-month parole period, the district jail superintendent has said.

The convicts -- Dharmender and Sudhir -- who were on parole since March 4, did not return to the jail after the completion of the parole on May 3, Jail Superintendent Rakesh Singh said.

The two convicts escaped from their houses at Kertu village under Jhinjhana police station in Shamli district, Singh said.

Following this, police have launched a manhunt to bring the convicts back into the prison, he said.
