UN appeals for international observers in Afghan vote audit

The United Nations today appealed for international observers to come and assist an audit of votes cast in Afghanistan's disputed presidential election.
The head of the UN mission in the wartorn country, Jan Kubis, made the call after the two rival candidates agreed to an audit of every ballot cast in the June 14 run-off to choose a successor to President Hamid Karzai.
