Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today expressed concern over increase in tomato and onion prices and directed the officials to take all necessary steps to check them at the earliest.
The chief minister, who held a review meeting on the prices in various mandis of the state, directed all district magistrates to ensure that tomato and onions are not hoarded at any point which could lead to increase in their prices, an official release issued here said.
He asked for taking stern action against the middlemen and hoarders and asked the departments concerned to also keep an eye on overstocking of vegetables, including tomato and onion, anywhere.

It was found during the meeting that the market price of tomato and onion was higher than the average price of these products, the release said.
The chief minister also directed the officials to place a request with the central government to make arrangements for Uttar Pradesh in case onion was imported to meet the demand.
