Village head assaulted in Amethi

A gram pradhan and reporter of a Hindi daily was assaulted allegedly by four persons of his own village in Sangrampur area here, police said today.

"Sanjay Singh (38) was assaulted and beaten up by four persons belonging to his village Tikarmafi, in a suspected case of property dispute, this afternoon" police said.

Singh, who sustained serious injuries on one of his hands and a leg in the assault, has been referred to a trauma centre in Lucknow after primary treatment in Amethi, SHO Sangrampur Manoj Tiwari said.

An FIR has been registered against the four people and further probe is underway, the SHO added.
