Villagers in Chaubepur area of the district today raised a protest after they found mutilated parts of cattle near a canal, police said.
K Emanuel, SSP, Kanpur, said that villagers today found mutilated parts of five cows in village Pratapur of Chaubepur area. It seems that few people from outside came here and did the act, he said.
People from nearby areas, who gathered at the spot after knowing the incident, tried to block the traffic but police pacified them, the SSP said.
A case has been registered against some unknown people in the matter and police teams have been constituted to nab the culprits, he said.
Meanwhile, local BJP MLA Satish Mahana said that police should take this incident seriously as such cases are increasing in the area.
