A youth wanted by
police for criminal cases, was arrested during an encounter in Odisha's Ganjam district, police said today.
The youth, the inspector-in-charge of Hinjili police station and a police constable were injured in the encounter that took place last night.
An accomplice of the youth, however, managed to escape.
A mauser with some ammunition, crude bombs, two motorcycles and two mobile phones were seized from the accused after an exchange of fire, the IIC P K Sahoo said.
The youth was allegedly involved in incidents of dacoity, extortion, exploding bombs and attempt to murder in different areas of Ganjam district and elsewhere.
After being caught he was admitted to the community health center (CHC) at Rambha and then sifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, police said.
