Water release for delta districts stopped from Mettur dam

Water release from Mettur dam for irrigation in delta ares was stopped this morning, PWD officials said.

Officials said 148.7 TMC feet was released for delta region during August 10 2014-February 5, 2015. During this period,Karnataka released 199 TMC feet.

They said the water level this morning stood at 77.3 feet against the full level of 120 feet.

Inflow was 203 cusecs.

As per state government norms, water for irrigation is usually stopped on January 28 but it was extended till today for cultivation of samba crop, officials added.
