Webel plans 2 electronics manufacturing clusters

The West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation (Webel) plans to set up two electronics manufacturing clusters at Falta and Naihati in the state.

"We have already got the approval for the Falta project from the Union government while, the Naihati project in progress. We plan to begin the work by this year," said Webel ED (finance), Aninda Chatterjee said on the sidelines of a CII event.

"The clusters will come up in an area of 58 acres in Falta and 70 acres in Naihati.

Webel, a state government agency responsible for electronics development in West Bengal, is already working on 16 IT parks of which 11 has been completed.
 

"The IT parks in Bantala, Taratala, Malda, Siliguri-Phase III, Krishnanagar will be completed by next year," said Chatterjee.

On hardware parks, he said the facility at Sonarpur has been completed and will be up for auction soon while the one in Kalyani is nearing completion.
