In 2013, Whistling Woods International (WWI), the school for film, animation and communication studies, would be spreading its base in Mumbai with a second campus in Andheri, to cater to the growing demand for professional courses.

The school is founded by director-writer-producer Subhash Ghai and promoted by Mukta Arts.

Whistling Woods International is also planning to announce another institute in Maharashtra very soon.

"As 2013 opens, Whistling Woods International stands strong, buoyant on their recent international and online expansions and looks towards a successful journey ahead," said the institute in a release.

In 2012, the institute expanded its arms globally with the announcement of the film & media institute in Africa, Whistling Woods International Nigeria in July and a global film school, the Whistling Woods- Bradford College Film Institute, UK in November.

Whistling Woods also recently announced its foray into the online education space with the Whistling Woods Virtual Academy (WWVA). WWVA is their e-learning platform, where WWI will make available web-based courses in multiple areas of film, television, communication, animation and other Media Arts.

The courses will be a combination of audio-visual playback, online and offline interactions with faculty as needed and online and offline assignments. The courses have intentionally been kept flexible to enable students to learn at their own pace, given their other commitments, irregular availability of time, and other constraints.

Subhash Ghai, Chairman of WWI said, "In film schools, you can’t fit too many students into each batch. I think India needs at least a 100 cinema schools so that we can nurture creative talent and remove mediocrity. That was the vision I had when I first set up WWI in Filmcity. I’m so proud of how far we’ve come in the past few years and I know that there will be more milestones for WWI in the future."

Further, in 2012, WWI set up their first recreational association, The Bandra Base, to encourage young talent to chase their interests.

Whistling Woods International offers a Diploma in Filmmaking with a specialisation in Direction, Producing, Cinematography, Editing, Screenwriting and Sound Recording & Design; an MBA in Media & Entertainment and a Diploma in Acting. Students can apply for admissions for the January 2013 batch of these courses.
