Woman booked for killing neighbour

A 27-year-old woman and some unidentified persons from Bhiwandi here have been booked for allegedly killing a man living in her neighbourhood, police said today.

The incident took place in the wee hours yesterday and the body of victim, Rajesh Adep (28) was recovered from the accused's house at Padma Nagar in Bhiwandi, senior inspector of Bhiwandi City police station D M Katke said.

Police had initially registered a case of accidental death and sent the body for postmortem.

Based on the post moprtem and the statement of the victim's father, accused Kavya Nadikatla and others were booked under IPC section 302 (murder), rw 34 (common intention).
 

The officer said that the other persons involved in the crime are yet to be identified.

Based on the CCTV footage, police has gathered information that the victim, who owned a electronics shop, had visited Nadikatla at her house at around 12.30 am yesterday, Katke said.

He further said the victim treated Nadikatla as his sister and both their families were known to each other and lived in the same locality.

The accused told the police that Adep had come to her house in an inebriated state and they had a scuffle, the officer said, adding they are yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
