A middle-aged woman was arrested for allegedly murdering her husband by stabbing him on his chest with a garden scissor.
Police said the murder took place at Naskarpara lane under Garfa police station in the southern part of the city at about midnight last night when the 45-year-old woman first hit her 53-year-old husband on his head with a piece of wood and then a stone used to grind spices before stabbing him on his chest with a garden scissor.
The man was jobless and an alcoholic and used to physically torture his wife, who was the sole earning member in the family, the police said adding last night too he had come home in an inebriated state and fought with the woman.
The neighbours informed police who rushed the man to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The woman was arrested later.
The couple has a son who appeared for the final year graduation examination this year, police said.
