The juvenile, who has been apprehended by police, revealed that he was given the contract to kill by the victim's brother.
"The woman had been staying with her parents at their residence with her two sons after separating from her husband. Her brother, Pradeep alias Sunny was crossed over this as he suspected that his sister will take her share of property from their parents. He used to have frequent arguments with her so that she leaves the house on her own but when that didn't happen, he decided to get her eliminated," said a senior police official.
Pradeep had hired the juvenile and even paid some money in advance. The 17-year-old accused was apprehended after the victim's 15-year-old son described his appearance to police.
He was allegedly involved in a robbery case reported from Najafgarh last year. He was apprehended in that case but later released from correction home for boys.
Efforts are on to nab Pradeep who has been staying out of the city after an externment order was issued against him for indulging in anti-social activities.
