A 25-year-old woman and her two children were charredto deathin their house in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, police said today.
The victims identified as Khushbu Bhagat and her two sons- Subham (4) and Subhank (2)-- were killed last night at their house under Rampur police outpost, Korba City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Surendra Sai Paikra said.
As per preliminary investigations, Khushbu, wife of Rakesh Bhagat who runs a betel shop in the locality, and their sons were only present in the house at the time of incident.
When their neighbours saw smoke emanating from Rakesh's house they entered it after breaking the doors and found the trio on blaze following which they informed police, the CSP said.
Soon after getting the news, senior police officials along with a rescue team rushed to the spot.
"It is yet to be ascertained that whether the woman committed suicide along with her children or it was an accident," Paikra said.
A case has been registered in this connection he said adding that further probe was underway.
