Women police constable injured in stone pelting in UP

A woman constable was severely injured after a police team was pelted with stones when it reached a village in the district to arrest an accused in a cow slaughtering case, police said today.

The incident occurred last evening when the team had gone to arrest accused Dilshad in Tawli village here, SHO Kushalpal Singh said.

Villagers began pelting stones at the police personnel to free Dilshad, Singh said, adding that Constable Suvati sustained severe injuries in the incident.

A case was registered under sections 147, 148, 149, 336, 332, 353 and 333 of the IPC against 37 people, of whom 17 were named, in connection with the attack, the SHO said.

 

Accused Dilshad was arrested and sent to jail, he added.
