A group of 400 women from four villages here raided several illegal distilleries in Tiwaripur area and destroyed five hundred litres of country-made liquor.
The illegal liquor units in Bahrampur and Basiadeeh villages were raided and destroyed yesterday, police said today.
Various women associations and Mahila Mandals active in the area held a meeting at Basiadeeh chauraha and took a pledge to end the menace of country-made liquor.
The death of Bhagwati Nishad, an elderly person of Bahrampur village in one of the illegal liquor sale outlets, due to alleged thrashing by a youth sparked the protest, police said.
