Youth held for forgery

A 24-year-old man from Solapur was

arrested for alleged forgery by misusing an official stamp for recruitment in police service.

Mohamad Hussain Abdul Haisagri had come to Thane for the interview of the ongoing police recruitments. He also brought with him the rubber stamp of his brother-in-law Nizam Adam Shaikh, the special executive officer from Solapur, Rabodi police station sub-inspector V B Deorkar said today.

The accused made use of the rubber stamp for certifying his documents as well as papers of other candidates who had come for the interview, Deorkar said.

He also signed on behalf of his brother-in-law on the documents and thus misguided and cheated the government, he said.
 

The youth was arrested yesterday and charged under sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 468 and 471 of the IPC, police said.

Police are trying to find out if Shaikh was actually an SEO, and whether the accused had stolen the stamp from him.
