Zinc prices declined by 0.35 per cent to Rs 187.30 per kg in futures trade today as speculators cut their bets amid weak trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in August fell by 65 paise or 0.35 per cent to Rs 187.05 per kg in business turnover of 20 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July contract shed 50 paise or 0.27 per cent to Rs 187.30 per kg in 1,257 lots.

Analysts attributed the slide in zinc prices at futures trade to a weak trend overseas as speculators stepped up selling ahead of new trade tariffs on goods from China and the US which could dampen demand for industrial metals.

Globally, zinc for delivery in three month tumbled 3.2 per cent to finish at USD 2,700 a tonne, the lowest since June last year on the London Metal Exchange yesterday.
