100 Foreign Firms To Attend Agro-Tech 96

According to CII (northern region) director Piyush Behl, a 12-member delegation from Pakistan will also attend the business fair. The CII is spending more than Rs 3 crore for organising the fair.

Australia will be the partner country in the fair. Australian deputy prime minister Tim Fisher will be visiting Chandigarh on November 3 in connection with fair. He will hold talks with senior government officials of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.

The latest agricultural and agro-related equipments and technologies will be on display during the five-day business fair. Nearly 200 leading Indian companies will be taking part in the fair.

 

The Australian companies will participate in the fields of water management, meet processing, ostrich farming, seed technology, agri business and wool processing. Nearly 35 private companies from Australia are expected to show their expertise in their respective fields at the fair.

Nearly 15 Dutch firms are likely to exhibit the latest techniques in the fields of floriculture, mushroom farming, green houses, cold storage equipment and fruit processing.

One of the unique features of the fair will be the display of second-hand tractors with attachments by the Dutch companies. The Dutch delegation will be putting stalls of second-hand tractors in view of the tremendous potential for tractors in the northern region.

The second-hand tractors to be displayed by the Dutch companies will be cost effective besides having the capacity to increase productivity, the CII regional director said.

According to Behl, the main purpose of the Pakistani delegation to participate in the fair will be to get the latest know how on pulses.

The Italian companies will display their expertise on farm machinery equipment. The Israeli firms will exhibit their latest technologies in the fields of drip irrigation, water management and desert cultivation. The British firms will display their expertise in the field of food processing.

Besides, experts from 28 agriculture universities in the country have confirmed their participation in the fair.

The CII is also organising Sugar Expo 96, a showcase of the latest sugar related technologies, during Agro-Tech 96. The Sugar-Expo 96 will represent a complete spectrum of sugar manufacturing and sugar services, including growers, millers, crushers, crop research institutions and equipment suppliers.
