Bangalore To Have Internet Gateway In

Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) is creating a full-fledged gateway in Bangalore for facilitating faster data communication by Internet users. The project will cost Rs 45 crore.
The proposed gateway is proposed to be set up at the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) complex in Bangalore.
Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd will build a 30-metre dish atop a 70-metre tower for this purpose, according to VSNL chairman & managing director B K Syngal.

The project is scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 1998.
The public sector undertaking is also closely working with Information Technology Park (India), led by the Tata-Singapore consortium, at Whitefield to establish a 30-metre antenna as captive network at the cost of Rs 14 crore.
According to the Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd chief plans to provide companies with bandwidth ranging from 64 mbps to 150 mbps on demand.
The company is committed to work closely with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) for this purpose, he said.
Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd has so far established 800 connections of 64 kbps all over the country while 150 more remain on the waiting list. A similar figure of waiting list also remains to be cleared among Software Technology Parks of India, Syngal said.
