Bjp Rivals Set To Do A Up At The Centre

The toppling of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday may have set in motion a process that could culminate in the installation of a non-BJP government at the Centre. The thwart-the-BJP move is likely to gain momentum in the coming weeks. Again, it may well backfire if the BJP manages turn the situation to its advantage by ensuring a substantial swing of votes.
Uttar Pradesh governor Romesh Bhandari yesterday drew considerable flak for his decision to swear in Jagdambika Pal of the Loktantrik Congress Party as the new chief minister without giving Kalyan Singh an opportunity to test his strength on the floor of the state assembly. Constitutional and legal experts were one in their condemnation of what they termed as the further subversion of democratic institutions.
