A large number of globally reputed Canadian firms, including Seprotech Systems and Eco-Tec, are vying to tap Indias growing environmental market by supplying clean technologies to the country, says the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

The companies have evinced interest in supplying technology, equipment, process and service in the fields of waste-water treatment, waste minimisation, odour control, control of acid gas emissions, groundwater management, fuel injection system, and general engineering and consultancy services, among others.

The CII recently released list of major Canadian firms is spearheaded by Seprotech Systems Inc a leading manufacturer of crossflow membrane filtration technology. Seprotech has offered to design, builds and service systems used for water production, waste-water treatment and purification process assessment and evaluation.

Quoting official sources in the Canadian High Commission in the Capital, the CII says the firm would undertake pilot studies, engineering and design, manufacturing, installation, on-site training and customer service. The firms client list, according the CIIs environment division, include Coca-Cola, Dupont, Bayer, and General Motors.

Another Canadian firm Eco-Tec Inc a major in the field of chemical recovery and purification systems for the last 27 years has put on offer its patented Recofloion exchange process technology, which has wide-ranging applications in industries like plating, steel finishing, aluminium finishing, pulp & paper, and water treatment.

Turbosonic Technologies Inc has evinced interest in supplying scrubber technology for particulate and acid emission control. The companys air pollution control and gas conditioning systems benefit an array of industries, including pulp & paper, mining, automotive, power generation, food and beverage and waste incineration.

Another firm Alternative Fuel Systems Inc is seeking to market its fuel injection systems which use compressed natural gas as vehicular fuel. The firms Sparrow System technology is for use in petrol-driven vehicles and the Eagle System for diesel-driven vehicles.

Canadas Environair Inc has offered solutions for pollution control in the pulp & paper industry. Environment engineering company Conestoga-Rovers & Associates are keen on providing their expertise in the field of waste-water management.

The CIIs list, published in its latest October-December issue of Green Business Opportunities also includes Calgon Carbon Corporation and Eco Logic International Inc. While Calgon is offering oxidation technologies which destroy organic chemicals in industrial and in process water, Eco Logic is offering a novel non-incineration method which destroys organic hazardous wastes.

Other companies include Racal Filter Technologies Inc (water treatment), Kvaemer Chemetics Inc (engineering systems, proprietary equipment and turnkey plants in the pulp & paper, chemical, fertiliser and metal smelting industries), and Goodfellow Consultants Inc who specialise in the field of clean air technologies with expertise in ventilation design, air pollution control and occupational health and safety aspects.
