Docs Warn Govt Of Indefinite Strike

THE HINDUSTAN TIMES

THE FEDERATION of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has decided to observe April 4 as Black Day in all the hospitals of the Capital in protest against the Government's apathy in solving the residents doctors' problems.

FORDA has threatened that it would not shy away from an indefinite strike paralysing all health services in Delhi, if their protest, to highlight their problems without causing inconvenience to patients, was not heeded by the Government.

In a statement issued today, the Federation stated that, after its meeting held on Thursday, it has come to the conclusion that the only option left to the residents to get heard was to resort to various modes of agitation.

It further stated that it had kept in abeyance any kind of agitation giving the care of patients topmost priority.

But seeing the Government remaining non-responsive to its demands even after three years, FORDA has decided to embark on a "novel form of protest" that would restrict the suffering of poor patients.

Following the observance of Black Day on April 4, a candle-light rally would be held at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Safdarjung Hospital, attended by resident doctors of all hospitals on April 5, said the statement.

Its next move would be to resort to relay casual leave in all hospitals starting with the AIIMS from April 10.
