In a bid to pin down accountability on senior officials handling public problems, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed them to interact with people by inviting queries and answering them at least once a week.
This will have to be done through the local cable operator. The officials concerned will have to receive complaints and queries over the telephone and answer them immediately over the cable television channel once every week.
The directive also applies to the collectors of districts and the heads of public utilities like the commissioner of municipal corporations, managing director of Water system and the chiefs of police.

Naidu issued the directive after making a surprise visit to some areas of the walled City in Hyderabad where he received numerous complaints on the lack of basic amenities.
He then asked the commissioner of the municipal corporation of Hyderabad and the managing director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Authority to make it a point to get on the cable television network once every week and answer people's queries.
