Hp To Take On Ibm Through Server Launch

This will enable HP to take on IBM Corporation which has recently launched its entire range of servers through Tata Information Services Ltd, its joint venture with the Tatas.
IBM recently unvieled its entire range of four servers - RISC System /6000 for scalable UNIX performance, AS/400 Advanced System which simplifies advanced computing, IBM System/390 for continuous computing and low end PC servers.
Four PA-8000 based hardware platforms HPs D,K,S and X-class servers, comprise the portfolio.
Product data management, file and intranet servers are based on the D and the K-class servers while the S-class system with 4 to 16 CPUs is a high capacity technical server and is ideal for technical users who need high performance with the price point and ease of management benefits of the symmetric multi processor range. The X class system with 16 to 64 CPUs, is suited for technical problems and leading edge scientific cahallenges.
Talking to Business Standard, HPs marketing manager for high performance computing, Ram Appalaraju said the Exemplar series will help preserve investment in software, hardware, peripherals, integration and training. Further under HPs technology-investment-protection program, this series has a provision for adding new PA-RISC processors and other capabilities as they become available.
HCL-HP is mainly targeting the oil and gas sector of the automobile sector and the mechanical designing segments.
