Iaf Grounds Alliance Plan For Jaisalmer Flight

BSCAL

Alliance Air's plans to start the first-ever civilian flight to Jaisalmer, Rajasthan has been stymied by the Indian Air Force.

Air Force officials rejected Alliance Air's proposal to start twice-weekly flights between Delhi and Jaipur on safety grounds. However, undeterred by the Indian Air Force snub, Alliance plans to approach them later.

According to Venu Kashyap, managing director, Alliance Air, Jaisalmer is a high security area and, therefore, his airline was not given permission. Meanwhile, the airline would be using the aircraft earmarked for Jaisalmer for starting another new route.

For the first time, passengers would now be able to fly from Amritsar and Chandigarh to Mumbai without changing flights in Delhi. Alliance would be commencing a new flight route, Amritsar-Chandigarh-Delhi-Bombay soon.

Kashyap said that both Amritsar and Chandigarh could not be separated as the passenger load factor would not be viable.

Alliance has already got six aircraft operating under its colours. These aircraft are all on transfer basis from parent company Indian Airlines.

Alliance has also added six more destinations on its network. These stations are all ex-Mumbai and include Ahmedabad, Bhuj, Kochi, Jamnagar, Mangalore and Rajkot. The new stations have managed to give the airline a network of 20 destinations which it services with 154 flights a week.
