National Geographic Channel (NGC) is working on a business plan to have a India-specific feed, including programmes dubbed in Hindi.

"We have plans in the near future to have a dedicated India-specific feed," NGC Asia vice-president (programming), Marcia Goh, said yesterday at a press conference, while unveiling new programming on the channel.

Although Goh did not specify a time-frame, she said, "The channel's ratings in India show a steady growth trend and a long viewing duration amongst viewers proving that our programming are indeed compelling."

According to Goh, the channel also has plans to dub programmes in Hindi to attract more viewers and local advertisers. "At present, we are working on a plan to offer blocks of dubbed programming, in the existing format of the channel, for local advertising so that they can derive greater advantage," Goh said.

The channel had several plans to bring its unique programming closer to Indian viewers, she said. This includes bringing several renowned National Geographic film makers and personalities to the country to share their experiences with people and promoting local programming talents.
