Kidwai Will Have To Grant Permission: Surjeet

Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) general Secretary Harkishen Singh Surjeet yesterday categorically stated that Bihar Governor AR Kidwai would have to grant sanction to the CBI to prosecute Bihar chief minister Laloo Yadav for his alleged role in the multi-croe fodder scam.

After the CBI has asked for the sanction to prosecute the chief minsiter, the Governor has no option. What can he do? After all the CBI is a central government agency and its crediblity cannot be undermined, he said.

Surjeet's statement is likely to further put pressure on the Bihar Chief Minister to resign. At the United Front's steering committee meeting on Saturday, the constituents of the Front had deliberately kept the issue in abeyance. Later Front spokesperson Jaipal Reddy said the the law would take its course.
