Kirloskars To Set Up Shop In Dubai

The new company will be named Kirloskar Middle East Pvt Ltd.

Kirloskar Electric has already opened a representative office in Indonesia where the market is sizeable and Indian products have found wide acceptance.

The company already has representative offices in Singapore, Malaysia and Germany.

The company plans to introduce a new series of energy efficient motors (primo and spectrum), low cost distribution transformers, new CNC systems and AC servo drives during the current year.

It has also invested heavily in plant and machinery for establishing new capacities, improving quality and reducing process time.

Some of the machinery received is in various stages of installation and commissioning, while a few more machines being imported are expected to be in place before the end of the current year.

 

Kirloskar Electric has also installed and commissioned three windmills near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.

The windmills are expected to generate 24 lakh units of power per year.

During 1995-96, the company exported the first 3,050 KW AC Motor to Fuji Electric, Japan.

The company has also bagged another order from Korea for the supply of eight large, high voltage slipring motors, typical rating 3800 KW and one DC Motor 1450 KW, together with cement plant equipment from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Japan. The company has also supplied at the largest ever 1500 KW motor to a fertilizer company.

The company's gross profits during the 1995-96 financial stood at Rs 28 crore, and the net profits were Rs 12 crore.

After accounting for Rs 2.5 crore, the surplus amount brought forward from the previous year, the profit available for appropriation was Rs 15 crore. The company's turnover for the year stood at Rs 500 crore.
