Mp Accounts For 82% Of Soya Output

The production in the state was lesser by 2,000 kg per hectare than the developed countries, officials of the agriculture department told reporters.

Despite the hurdle of less production per hectare than the world standard, the state contributes to the soyabean production in the country at the rate of 10 tonnes per hectare and total production reaching up to 38 lakh tonnes.

As the world is celebrating soyabean day on October 5, the state has vowed to increase its production up to 40 lakh tonnes by the end of the century.

The soyabean crop area was only 4,000 hectares in Madhya Pradesh, which has reached to 29.77 lakh hectares in last three decades and the production has shown an upward trend during the past two and half years of congress regime in the state by going up to 38 lakh tonnes from the earlier 28 lakh tonnes.
