Over the years, the company has built a reputation for meticulous precision. Some of its products range includes precision ball bearings, tapered roller bearings, spherical roller bearings, catridge tapered roller bearings and roller bearing axle boxes.

NEI has fully automated state of the art manufacturing facilities in Jaipur and Gunsi (Newai) Rajasthan. These produce nearly 2.1 million bearings per month in 500 different t sizes ranging from 20 mm to 1300 mm. The company has the distinction of being the only manufacturer in the country to make very large diameter bearings which are used in steel plants, thermal power stations, earth-moving equipment and other heavy industries. The company is the largest supplier of Roller Bearing Axle Boxes, Cartridge tapered roller bearings and spherical roller bearings to the Indian Railways which constitute one of the largest systems in the world.

 

In order to achieve this, the company invested heavily in contemporary technology, formed strategic international alliances and ventured into new areas of expertise. In 1985 NEI entered into collaboration with NTN corporation of Japan who are global leaders in bearings industry. This has given NEI access to a veritable storehouse of bearing experience and decades of tested technology to develop the most advanced products in the industry. The company also has a tie up with Brenco Incorporated of USA for the manufacture of catridge tapered Roller Bearings which have the outstanding property of requiring no field lubrication.

These strategic international alliances have paid rich dividends and greatly increased NEIs productivity. The company at present enjoys a 20 per cent share in total sales. It also supplies bearings to a number of major companies in India like Maruti Udyog, Telco, Kinetic Honda, TVS suzuki, Mahindra and Mahindra, Hero Honda, Hindustan Motors among others.

NEI has been awarded the ISO - 9001 certificate - THE MARK OF EXCELLENCE IN QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - by the renowned certification authority BVQI of the UK for design development, manufacture and supply of NEIs complete range of products.

The research and development division of NEI for the design and development of roller bearings is among the best in the country. The division designs about 12 new types of bearings every year which enables it to respond very quickly to market demands for new types of bearings. The company is also the only one to have a well equipped research and development department and machine building facilities with electronic research lab and training facilities. The company has spent Rs. 175 crore over the last five years and has earmarked a further Rs. 216 crore for the future.

The company is also modernising its existing infrastructure in order to remove bottle necks in the production process. This should see it increase its annual growth rate in the next five years to 15 per cent from the current 6.4 per cent and more than double its turnover to Rs. 535 crores from the 1995-96 figure of 243 crores over the next five years.
