No Second Team To Tn, Says Advani

BSCAL

The Centre is not deputing a second team to Tamil Nadu to assess the security situation there, Union home minister Lal Krishna Advani said yesterday.

Asked whether the government was dispatching another central team to Tamil Nadu Advani shook his head and said: No.

AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha had demanded that the Centre should send a new team, headed by Union home secretary, to Tamil Nadu to make a fresh assessment of the security scenario in the state.

Advani was answering queries from newsmen at Rashtrapati Bhavan after the defence investiture ceremony yesterday.

Asked about the removal of special secretary (home) Ashok Kumar, who had led a two-member central team to Tamil Nadu, from his ministry, to assess the law and order situation in the state , Advani tersely said , I do things. I do not comment.

The home minister had reportedly expressed his displeasure over the manner in which Kumar had handled his mission to Tamil Nadu to assess the growth of subversive forces in the state.
