The award was given for Aditya Birla's contribution towards building India. His record of enterprise and creation of wealth by setting up new, modern and highly sophisticated plants, backed by proven administrative capabilities of the group, has generated goodwill for Indian entrepreneurship and management in India as well as South-East Asia.
The winners of the Qimpro Gold Standard in 1996 are Urvi Piramal, joint managing director, Morarjee Goculdas Mills; Shalini Chainani, CEO Gopikrishna Piramal Memorial Hospital; and Shrikant Sarwate, controller of operations, Mahindra and Mahindra.

The client list includes Mahindra & Mahindra, Mukand, Punjab Tractors, Crompton Greaves, Voltas, Mafatlal Industries, Piramal Enterprises and Tata Steel.
