Shares Revive

Share prices gained on the Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) yesterday on favourable reports from overseas bourses. Shares like HLL and automobile scrips remained in the limelight. The benchmark DSE sensitive index (base 1983) moved up by 12.43 points to close at 726.16.
Trading could be held only for an hour due to technical snags in the computer. However, emergence of heavy buying by both domestic and foreign funds pushed up prices, leading to a recovery run.
HLL led moving up by Rs 39.50 to Rs 1,425, followed by ITC which gained Rs 20.40 at Rs 600.50. ACC gained Rs 15.50 while Bajaj Auto moved up by Rs 12.75 and SmithKline Beecham by Rs 11. The other gainers were BSES, Hero Honda, ICICI, Indian Rayon, ITC Hotels, L&T, MTNL, Nestle India, OBC, RIL, SRF, SBI, Telco and Tisco. Apollo Tyres closed with a loss of Rs 5.25 at Rs 67.95 while Ranbaxy Labs lost Rs 5 to close at Rs 688. Other losers were Arvind Mills, Asian Hotels, Daewoo Motors, Escorts, Hindustan Motors, LML and Sail. Whirlpool remained static at its previous closing rate. UNI
