Silicon Graphics Unveils New Product Line On Internet

The products range from entry level desktop workstations to the high end scalable supercomputers and servers, provide solutions for three dimensional graphics, digital media, Web computing and enterprise computing.

Ashok Desai, managing director of Silicon Graphics (India) Ltd said this will enable customers to develop Web applications, process corporate data, solve complex design problems or create special effects.

The new systems are completely integrated into the desktop user interface and operating system. Other features include Web-browsing and other network protocols. The new line also offers three dimensional graphics, imaging, video and video compression capabilities.

The products which were launched through the Web include the O2 Desktop workstation family, the Origin high performance enterprise server family, the WebForce server, the Onyx2 supercomputer and the CrayOrigin2000 supercomputing servers.

 

The company also announced the launch of scalable shared-memery multiprocessing architecture, is the underlying architecture for the WebForce servers, Origin and Oynx2 product lines.

Silicon Graphics (India), a wholly owned subsidiary of Silicon Graphics is a leading supplier of high performance visual and enterprise computing systems.

The company's products range from low-end desktop workstations to servers and high-end Cray supercomputers. The company recoded a turnover of Rs 85 crore in 1995-96. Silicon Graphics also markets MIPS microprocessor designs, design software and other software products.
