Tisa In Tieup With Us Body For Telecom Training

Tisa also concluded a friendly membership agreement with the Telecommunication Industries Association of America (TIAA).
The agreements were concluded during a visit to the United States early last month by a team consisting of members of the Telecommunications Industry & Services Association led by the president of the association, P K Sandell.
As a result of the agreement (with the Telecommunication Industries Association of America), an institutional mechanism of exchange of technical and technological information and data on various developments taking place in the global telecom scenario has been established and Tisa will now be able to feed India with state-of-the-art data on the progress made in various telecom sectors, Sandell said.
Speaking here at a Press conference, P K Sandell, the TISA president, said that the objectives of the national telecom policy were unlikely to be achieved given the present stalemate between basic telecom operators and the department of telecommunications (DoT).
Sandell was very critical of the licence and interconnect agreements which have been offered to the operators.
The Tisa president said there were several clauses in the draft pacts, which had not been mentioned in the July 1994 tender guidelines.
