Windows 98, the latest upgrade to Microsoft Corp.'s operating system for personal computers, will be released on June 25.
Rob Bennett, group product manager for Windows 98, estimated the upgrade will sell for $109. The version for computers that do not have the Windows 95 operating system will cost an additional $100. The release date has been widely reported before the official announcement. And Microsoft has already released software close to the final configuration of Windows 98. The main improvement is that it weaves Microsoft's Internet browser into the desktop operating system, turning the computer screen into a viewfinder.
