Butler International Inc, a provider of techoutsourcing services, has shifted its Hyderabad operations to a new 16,000-sq ft facility.

With this relocation, the company is planning to increase its employee-strength here to around 500 from the present 100 in the next 18-20 months. The company may also look at setting up another centre in the country after a year.

Addressing a press conference, Edward M Kopko, chairman and chief executive officer of Butler International Inc, said, "Our earlier facility was just around 3,000 sq ft employing 100 people. Based on our plans for growth in India, we have shifted to a new 16,000-sq ft facility that has the capacity to house 180 workstations in one shift."

The centre at Hyderabad is a 24-hour facility where teams work in three eight-hour shifts providing services in engineering, telecom, technology and IT.

The centre replicates the services of the company's US centre and supports multinational clients like Avon and Citigroup. The $250-million company has 17 engineering and technology centres across the world, employing more than 3,000 employees.

"At this centre, we are looking at increasing the headcount to around 500 within the next 18-20 months," Kopko said, adding that they may reassess their operations in India in a year's time and then set up more centres in the country.

"We are also anticipating bringing our clients to this centre to apprise them of the work that is being executed here," he added. Kopko also said that they are expecting a strong growth this year.
