C1 India, which developed the Andhra Pradesh e-Procurement Project online platform for government tenders, handed over the project to AP Technology Services Ltd on December 31, 2010.

Started in 2002, the project covered 219 departments and processed 100,000 tenders amounting to more than Rs 3 lakh crore and has resulted in savings of Rs 15,000 crore, according to a company release. With e-procurement, the average tender processing time came down from 120 days to 36 days, it said.

The handover included transfer of hardware, documents and passwords for servers and software applications in the presence of the technical committee made up of members from AP Technology Services Limited, Department of Information, Technology & Communication, Institute for Electronic Governance and C1 India.

In addition, the company also organised hands-on training including parallel run for representatives of APTS over 22 days to ensure smooth functioning of the project. The transferred assets were tested and verified by the technical committee on Dec 13, 2010, and was successfully deployed on Dec 29.

“With this handover, C1India has completed all its responsibilities for a smooth project transition and would not be liable for any future issues related to the project,” the company said.

The project won the ‘Golden Icon’ award from the Government of India for exemplary implementation of an e-governance project and was rated among the top ten e-governance projects in the country.
